Sharsheret In Focus
What is the mission of your organization?
Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization of cancer survivors dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by young Jewish women living with breast cancer. By pairing those who share similar life experiences as well as diagnoses, Sharsheret provides support and resources for young Jewish women facing breast cancer.
What are the central activities of your organization?
  1. The Link Program, a peer support network connecting young women newly diagnosed or at high risk of developing breast cancer with others who share similar diagnoses and experiences.
  2. Education and Outreach Programs, including health care symposia addressing the concerns of young women facing breast cancer. Recent events addressed the subjects of breast cancer and fertility, and breast cancer genetics. Transcripts of all symposia are available on Sharsheretís website.
  3. Quality of Life Programs, including the Busy Box for young parents facing breast cancer and Best Face Forward to address the cosmetic side effects of treatment.
What events are you planning in the future?

  3. Program in Development: ìFamily Focus: A Program for Family Members Affected by Breast Cancer.î
Who participates in your activities?
Women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, women at high risk of developing breast cancer, family members and friends of those facing breast cancer, health care professionals and Jewish organizational professionals.

Thousands nationwide.
What are your sources of funding?
Individual contributions, foundations, corporations.
What does your organization get out of Bikkurim?
Networking opportunities in the Jewish organizational community, Training in non-profit management and Guidance in developing a national organization.
