What motivated the formation of the organization?
Conversations that Aaron Bisman had with Co-founder Ben Hesseís around music in their final year at NYU. What would it mean to take GOOD jewish music into clubs and match the quality of the music with quality marketing? Who would come and why? And who would work on such an endeavor?
What are the central activities of the organization?
Events, CDs, Artist Incubation.
How many people do you serve?
Hundreds of thousands of people through cd sales, events, and media presence.
Who participates in your activities?
Jews and non-jews alike of various ages but mainly 18-34, all across the country.
What events are you planning in the future?
Golem and Balkan Beat Box are on tour Aug 27th-Sept 17th ñ all dates are on their website. ìJust for a Dayî International Hillel concert: November 12th in Los Angeles. Hanukkah events; Jewltide December 23rd and 24th at Southpaw in Brooklyn, Vodka Latka December 14th in San Francisco and December 16th in Los Angeles. Purim events: March 3rd in New York and Los Angeles
What has your organization gotten out of Bikkurim?
Aliza Mazor is an incredible consultant and invaluable resource of Bikkurim. Her guidance in building a fast-growing not-for-profit has been key to JDub\'s success.
